What Let's Move! STL Can Do For You:
Let's Move! STL is a function within the St. Louis City Department of Health. We are the nutrition services team focused on getting the St. Louis community engaged in active living and healthy eating. We offer an array of services that we can bring to your organization. The events and programs offered align with the former First Lady, Michelle Obama's initiative.
What We Offer:
Cooking Classes or Demonstrations:
We provide nutritious cooking classes or cooking demonstrations led by reliable registered dietitians to encourage healthier eating, learn about a variety of different healthy food groups, and to taste foods that you might not normally choose. These demonstrations can be a simple taste test or a full demo with participants involved in the cooking process. We will teach you the benefits of certain foods, how to prepare them, what they taste like, and a delicious recipe to take home to share with your loved ones.
The St. Louis City Department of Health Nutrition Services department is comprised of a team of registered dietitians who love to educate the public on various health and nutrition topics. Lessons can be provided to community organizations, healthcare clinics, schools, or offices. We offer evidence-based education on the current nutrition research and guidelines to help you make the best decisions for your health.
Part of the Nutrition Services mission includes healthy and sustainable living. We partner with local gardens to provide education on basics of gardening and to promote the many health benefits of local produce. We can provide lessons to schools with gardens, community gardens, or even neighborhood gardens.
Let's Move! STL Events:
In order to get the St. Louis community out and moving, we host numerous Let's Move! STL events to get the entire community moving together. These events include an annual Let's Move! STL Flash Mob, Let's Move! Golf, Let's Move! 5K Relay, and other active events. Be on the look out to participate in these fun and free community events to get the Let's Move! community moving together!
Small Changes for Health:
Small Changes for Health is an online, 10-week program designed to work on sustainable, realistic, healthy behaviors. We want you to incorporate more healthy habits into your lifestyle through food, nutrition, sleep, activity, and a less stressed life. The program incorporates weekly wellness challenges created to help you implement gradually into your everyday habits. Small Changes for Health launches in January of 2018, so be sure to sign up to join us for this year's program!
